“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Motifs/Patterns: This is a handloom pure mulberry silk Kanchipuram, and I call it a color-block saree for the simplest reason — it's built out of blocks of color running the length of the fabric. Deep maroon, orange, yellow, burgundy, mustard, and a few different shades of green all sit side by side, each in its own panel. On paper that many colors sounds like it should clash. On this saree it doesn't. The tones are chosen so carefully that they hand off from one to the next like a well-planned sunset, and the whole thing reads as rich and deliberate rather than busy. That's the real craftsmanship here — not just the weaving, but the smartness of the color choices. Being pure mulberry silk, it has everything you want from a Kanchipuram in the hand: the natural luster, the soft fluid drape, and that quiet elegance that makes it easy to carry. This is a proper occasion saree — weddings, receptions, ritual ceremonies, Durga Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Rakhi, Diwali and other big puja celebrations, Griha Pravesh and housewarming parties. Put simply, this is the party saree, the wedding-day saree, the one you reach for when the event matters. The body is the reason for the name. It's made up of multiple color blocks — deep maroon, red, greens, mustard, yellow and burgundy — each panel a different tone, laid out so they balance across the drape. Scattered across the blocks are delicate raindrop motifs worked in gold zari, tiny slanted flecks that catch the light and tie all the different colors together with a common thread of gold. It's a design that could easily have looked chaotic, but the gold raindrops and the dividing lines keep it elegant and pulled-together. The pallu is a masterpiece on its own. It settles into a deep maroon loaded with golden zari work — bands and fine pinstripes of gold running across it, and set in between them a temple design, that classic row of woven peaks. It finishes with a thick golden zari band and tassels at the very end. It's the weighty, dramatic finish this saree needs; without a pallu this rich, all those colors would have nowhere to land. The saree also comes with a contrasting blouse piece.
Border Details: The border is deliberately understated so the colors can do the talking. A sleek, fine golden zari line runs along the top and bottom edges, end to end. Then, in between, slim zari lines run through the saree dividing one color block from the next — so instead of the colors just bleeding together, each panel is neatly framed. It creates a clean box effect, a subtle grid that gives the whole saree structure and makes those color blocks look intentional and sharp.
Special Techniques: This is a handloom pure mulberry silk Kanchipuram, and it comes with a Silk Mark — your assurance that it's genuine natural mulberry silk. A color-block saree like this is genuinely difficult to weave — more so than a plain single-color one. In an ordinary saree the body is one continuous color, so the weaver runs the same thread end to end. Here the body changes color block after block. That means the weaver has to introduce a new set of colored threads for each panel and change them over cleanly, so maroon gives way to mustard, mustard to green, and so on, without the colors muddying at the join. Each of those fine dividing zari lines you see between the blocks is doing a job — it marks where one color section ends and the next begins, and gives the weaver a clean line to change over on. That's what creates the neat box effect instead of a messy smudge between shades. On top of that base, the gold raindrop motifs are added with an extra golden zari thread carried through on the loom — a supplementary weft — dropped in flick by flick across every block. And the pallu is woven denser still, packing in the zari bands, the pinstripes and the temple design so it carries real weight and drama at the end. Put it together — the finest mulberry silk, the Silk Mark guarantee, the carefully changed color blocks, the dividing zari grid, the scattered gold raindrops, and that heavy temple-and-zari pallu — and you get a saree where the artistry is really in the planning: knowing exactly which colors to place next to each other, and having the loom skill to switch between them cleanly, panel after panel.
Season: All seasons

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom. Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture.
