“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Motifs/Patterns: This Kanchipuram is a burst of celebration: a glowing orange body crossed with fine golden zari kattam, framed by a Ganga Jamuna border, where the top and bottom borders are two completely different colours. Along one edge runs a shot green-and-red that shifts with the light. Along the other runs a deep crimson red that carries on into the pallu.
It's woven in pure mulberry silk, so it has everything that makes a Kanchipuram special: a rich lustre, a graceful fall, and a vibrancy that makes colours look alive rather than flat. Orange, crimson and gold together are the colours of auspicious occasions, so this saree belongs at pujas, festive gatherings and celebrations, and it can be part of a wedding too. It works on almost any occasion where you want to look joyful and dressed up.
The body is a bright, glowing orange crossed with golden zari kattam: fine gold lines running both lengthwise and across, forming a neat grid of small checks. The lines are ultra-thin, yet every square is precise and evenly sized from one end of the saree to the other. You can see clearly how carefully the grid has been woven. The tested zari catches the light at every crossing, so the orange looks lit from within rather than flat. This pattern runs through the full length of the body.
The pallu switches to the deep crimson red base, carrying bands of golden zari: broad zari panels alternating with fine gold stripes. After the busy, checked body, the pallu is clean and bold, with colour and gold lines doing all the work. The crimson pallu, the orange body and the gold kattam together make the whole saree feel balanced and festive. The saree comes with a contrasting blouse piece.
Border Details: This is a Ganga Jamuna border, named after the two rivers that meet at Prayagraj, where their waters are said to flow side by side in two different colours. The saree does the same thing: its two borders are different colours.
The top border is a broad shot colour of green and red. Woven together, the two produce a deep, changing tone that looks olive-bronze in one light and flashes red or green as you move. The bottom border is a deep crimson red, bold and warm. Both borders carry bands of golden zari woven in a repeating pattern of small medallions and scrolls, which ties the two different colours together into one design. A different colour on each edge gives the saree extra life. Depending on how you drape it, a different side of its personality shows.
Special Techniques: The silk. This is a 100% handloom Kanchipuram woven in pure mulberry silk, the smoothest and most lustrous of the natural silks, in a four-ply construction. That means four fine silk threads are twisted together into every strand before weaving begins. It's like twisting four thin strands into one rope: each thread on its own is fine, but together they're strong. Four-ply silk gives the saree its rich body and glow, its graceful fall, and its ability to hold pleats and last for decades. It's the difference between a saree you replace and one you pass down.
Korvai, three ways. In a normal korvai saree, the weaver interlocks one border colour with the body. A Ganga Jamuna saree doubles the challenge. The orange body, the green-and-red top border and the crimson bottom border are all woven at the same time, each with its own thread. At both edges, where a border meets the body, the weaver interlocks the threads by hand on every single row, all along the length of the saree. That means managing two separate border colours and two separate interlocking joins at once, and it usually takes two weavers at the loom working in rhythm. Because each border is woven into the body rather than attached, neither can ever come apart.
The shot colour on the top border. The green-and-red effect isn't printed or dyed as one shade. It's built into the weave. Green threads run in one direction and red threads run across them. Because they cross at right angles, the colour you see depends on the angle of the light, so the border shifts between olive, bronze, red and green as the saree moves.
How the zari kattam is woven. The gold checks are part of the weave itself. The weaver places fine zari threads at fixed intervals in the warp (the lengthwise threads) and passes zari across in the weft (the crosswise thread) at exactly the same spacing. Where they cross, the gold grid forms. Because the lines are so thin, there's no room for error. One misplaced zari pick shows up straight away as a broken or crooked line. Keeping every square the same size across six yards takes careful counting on every row.
The zari. The zari is tested zari: a silk core wrapped in metallic thread, checked for quality and consistency. It isn't real gold; "tested" refers to the verified quality of the zari. The silk core keeps it soft and flexible, so the kattam and the zari bands drape smoothly with the silk, and it holds its glow over the years instead of tarnishing the way imitation zari does.
Time. Dyeing three body and border colours, setting up two korvai joins, weaving the shot border and placing every line of the zari kattam by hand make a Ganga Jamuna Kanchipuram one of the more demanding pieces to weave. It takes several weeks of skilled work.
Silk Mark. The saree carries the Silk Mark, the Government of India's certification that it's pure silk. It's independent confirmation of the fabric, not just the seller's word.
Season: All seasons
Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom.
Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture.

Handloom sarees are entirely hand-woven on traditional looms by skilled artisans. Natural variations like minor thread ends, slight pattern variations, or subtle texture differences are authentic characteristics, not defects. These make each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
