“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Color: Red
Silk Type: Matka
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This saree comes in a rich, deep red, built on a half-and-half design. The first half is sheer muslin silk, scattered with small coin motifs woven in rose gold and silver zari. The second half is matka silk, textured and hand-spun, which gives the red a royal depth. Think of a sheer curtain meeting a raw-silk drape: light on one side, structured on the other. Because it brings together muslin silk and matka, the saree is light, airy and easy to wear, and it flows beautifully. It’s celebratory without being heavy, and it suits a wedding wardrobe, parties, formal and informal occasions, and auspicious events. You don’t have to think twice. The body follows the half-and-half concept. The first half is sheer muslin silk, with small coin motifs woven across it in tested zari, alternating between rose gold and silver. Each coin is made with the jamdani needle technique, and against the sheer red they look like little coins floating on the fabric. The second half is pure matka, where the hand-spun slub and texture are clearly visible. That texture gives the saree real body and balances the lightness of the muslin half. The pallu is covered in fine rose gold zari bands running across its full width, giving it a soft metallic shimmer that catches the light as you move. It finishes in handmade tassels. It’s the kind of detail that lifts the mood the moment you walk into a room. The saree comes with an attached blouse piece in golden zari pinstripes.
Border Details: A sleek rose gold edging runs along the top and bottom of the saree. It’s slim and clean, and once draped it creates a long, elegant line that makes the saree look graceful and elongated.
Special Techniques: Two very different yarns. Muslin silk is a very fine, smooth yarn woven in an open structure, which makes the fabric sheer. Matka is the opposite: it’s made from short silk fibres that are spun by hand, so the yarn is thick, uneven and textured. Bringing them together in one saree is a real challenge. Both halves share the same lengthwise threads on the loom, but the weaver switches the crosswise thread from fine muslin silk to thick matka partway through. Like a road changing from glass to gravel, the weaver has to adjust how firmly each row is beaten down, or one half will pucker or pull against the other. That clean change across the full width is done by hand, row by row. Yarn-dyed. The red is dyed into the thread before weaving begins, not added to the finished cloth. Muslin silk and matka take dye differently, so getting both halves to the same deep red takes skill before the loom is even set up. The coins: needle jamdani in zari. As each row of the sheer muslin silk is woven, the weaver counts the warp threads and uses a fine needle to place the zari only where a coin belongs, switching between rose gold and silver in turn. Then the row is beaten down and the next one begins. There’s no printing and no machine; every coin is placed by hand from the weaver’s memory. On sheer muslin there’s nowhere to hide a mistake, so every coin has to be round, even and evenly spaced. The zari. The zari is tested zari: a silk core wrapped in metallic thread, checked for quality and consistency. It isn’t real gold or silver; “tested” refers to the verified quality of the zari. The silk core keeps it soft, so it moves easily with the light fabric.
Season: All seasons

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom. Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture."
