“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Color: Pastel Green
Silk Type: Matka
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This saree comes in a soft pastel mint green, fresh and calm, like new leaves in early morning light. The body is matka silk, and you can see and feel its texture: the natural slub of hand-spun silk runs through the fabric, giving the colour depth and a gentle sheen. Then the saree changes character at the pallu, which is sheer muslin silk covered in a jamdani flower garden. It's one of those sarees that fits almost anywhere. It's polished enough for work and formal occasions, festive enough for a puja or a celebration, and special enough for a wedding trousseau. The texture of the matka and the delicacy of the jamdani make it feel effortless and considered at the same time. The body is solid pastel green matka, with its hand-spun slub visible across the full length, catching the light in fine streaks. Small jamdani butis are scattered across it: tiny four-petal and cross-shaped motifs in navy blue and lime yellow thread, with a few in white and soft gold. They're spaced generously, so the matka texture stays the hero and the butis add small points of colour, like scattered confetti. Every buti is woven by hand using the traditional needle technique. The pallu switches to sheer muslin silk, and that sheerness is what makes the jamdani shine. A dense flower jaal spreads across it: branches in golden tested zari carry small flowers in navy blue, teal blue, lime yellow and white, with larger white leaf motifs curling at the edges. Because the muslin is almost see-through, the flowers look like they're floating on air, and the multicoloured threads give the light fabric real volume and richness. It reads like a garden in bloom woven into the cloth. The saree ends in tassels and comes with a pinstripe blouse piece.
Border Details: The border is a simple, muted off-white edging running along the top and bottom of the saree. It's deliberately quiet. With a textured matka body and a busy jamdani pallu, a heavy border would crowd the design. The slim pale edge frames the pastel green cleanly and keeps the whole look light.
Special Techniques: Yarn-dyed. The pastel mint green is dyed into the thread before weaving begins, not applied to the finished cloth. That matters more than usual here, because two very different yarns, thick hand-spun matka and fine muslin silk, both have to come out the same soft green. Each yarn takes dye differently, so matching them takes skill before the loom is even set up. Matka for the body. Matka is made from the shorter silk fibres left after the long filament has been reeled from the cocoon. Those fibres are spun by hand, not by machine, and that's where the slub comes from: the thread is naturally a little thicker in some places and thinner in others. It gives the body its texture, a bit of structure, and a fall that holds its shape. No two matka sarees have exactly the same surface. Muslin silk for the pallu. Muslin is an extremely fine, open weave, the same family as the famous Bengal muslins. Here it's woven with fine silk yarn, so the pallu is sheer and airy while still carrying the soft lustre of silk. Two fabrics on one loom. The body and pallu share the same warp (the lengthwise threads on the loom). What changes is the weft (the crosswise thread). For the body, the weaver passes the thicker matka yarn across. At the pallu, the weaver switches to fine muslin silk yarn and weaves a looser, more open structure. Picture a road that changes from gravel to glass. The weaver has to adjust how firmly each row is beaten down, or the sheer section will pucker, sag or pull away from the body. Getting a clean, even transition across the full width is done by hand, row by row. The needle technique of jamdani. Every buti and every flower in the jaal is woven by hand on the loom. As each row of the base is woven, the weaver counts the warp threads and uses a fine needle to place the coloured thread or zari only where that part of the motif belongs, then beats the row down and moves on. There's no printing, no machine and no drawn guide; the pattern is carried in the weaver's memory. The jaal on this pallu uses five colours: navy, teal, lime yellow, white and golden zari. That means constant thread changes inside small areas. And on sheer muslin, there's nowhere to hide a mistake, because every stitch shows from both sides of the cloth. The zari. The golden branches are woven in tested zari: a silk core wrapped in metallic thread, checked for quality and consistency. It isn't real gold; "tested" refers to the verified quality of the zari. The silk core keeps it soft, so it moves with the light muslin instead of weighing it down or scratching. Between matching the dye across two yarns, switching fabrics partway along the saree and placing every motif by needle, a saree like this takes several weeks of skilled work at the loom.
Season: All seasons

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom. Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture."
