“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”
Color: Indigo
Silk Type: Matka
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This saree looks like a midnight sky. The first half is deep indigo muslin silk, covered in a tight pattern of silver zari triangles that catch the light like a sky full of stars. The second half turns into hand-spun matka in a bright azure blue, like the sky just before dawn. Between them, a fine gold edge frames everything.
It’s light, it glows with zari, and it needs no effort to look festive. One glance and it feels like a celebration. It’s made for Diwali parties, Karwa Chauth, celebrations and parties, and it belongs in a wedding wardrobe too.
The body follows the half-and-half concept. The first half is sheer muslin silk woven with heavy jamdani: rows of silver zari triangles fitted tightly together, point to point, so the indigo and silver form a sharp, shimmering geometric pattern. Every triangle is woven with the needle technique of jamdani, and the weave is unusually dense for such a sheer base. The second half is matka in bright azure blue, where the hand-spun texture is clearly visible. Fine pinstripes run through it, adding rhythm and giving this half real weight and body. The sheer, sparkling half and the textured, striped half balance each other well.
The pallu continues from the first half, with the same silver zari triangles on indigo muslin. It then moves into a wide band of heavy silver zari, followed by pinstripes and the azure matka, and finishes in handmade tassels. The saree comes with a running blouse piece.
Border Details: A slim gold edging runs along the top and bottom of the saree. Against the indigo and silver, the warm gold adds a lovely contrast, like a thin golden frame around a night-sky painting, and it gives the drape a clean, finished line.
Special Techniques: Two silks on one loom. Muslin silk is a very fine, smooth yarn woven in an open structure, which makes the fabric sheer and light. Matka is made from short silk fibres that are spun by hand, so the yarn is thick and uneven, which is where its texture comes from. Both halves share the same lengthwise threads on the loom, but partway through, the weaver switches the crosswise thread from fine muslin to thick matka. Like a road changing from glass to gravel, the weaver has to adjust how firmly each row is beaten down so the two halves sit flat and even together.
Yarn-dyed. The indigo and the azure are dyed into the thread before weaving begins, not added to the finished cloth. Muslin silk and matka take dye differently, so getting each half to its exact shade takes skill before the loom is even set up.
Needle jamdani on a sheer base. As each row of the muslin is woven, the weaver counts the warp threads and uses a fine needle to lay silver zari only where a triangle belongs. Then the row is beaten down and the next one begins. There’s no printing, no machine and no drawn guide; the pattern is carried in the weaver’s memory.
Why it’s so hard. On this saree, the triangles are packed tightly together, point to point, so the zari covers a large part of the surface. That’s far harder than scattering small motifs. Every triangle has to be the same size and line up perfectly with its neighbours, row after row, or the whole pattern looks crooked. And because muslin is so fine and open, the weaver has to lay all that zari without pulling or puckering the delicate base. On sheer fabric there’s nowhere to hide a mistake, since every edge shows from both sides of the cloth. That’s what makes a dense jamdani like this slow, skilled work.
The zari. The silver & gold zari are tested zari: a silk core wrapped in metallic thread, checked for quality and consistency. It isn’t real silver; “tested” refers to the verified quality of the zari. The silk core keeps it soft, so even this heavy zari work moves easily with the light muslin.
Season: All seasons
Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom.
Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture."

Handloom sarees are entirely hand-woven on traditional looms by skilled artisans. Natural variations like minor thread ends, slight pattern variations, or subtle texture differences are authentic characteristics, not defects. These make each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
