“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Color: Bottle Green
Silk Type: Matka
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This saree comes in a deep bottle green, built on a half-and-half design that puts two opposite silks side by side. The first half is sheer muslin silk, where jamdani leaves in light aqua-green thread and rose gold zari climb across the fabric in arrow-like sprays. The second half is hand-spun matka, where the green turns rich and textured, with fine streaks running through it. It’s like a glass window opening onto a wooded hillside: one light and airy, the other earthy and grounded. It’s a contemporary look built on a traditional craft. It’s perfect for Diwali nights, parties, lunches and brunches, and it fits easily into a wedding trousseau when you’re putting together different looks for different functions. The body follows the half-and-half concept. The first half is sheer muslin silk. Floral jamdani sprays run across it, with arrow-shaped leaves in light aqua-green thread and rose gold zari, plus small butis in both colours scattered between them. Every motif is woven using the needle technique of jamdani. The second half is hand-spun matka in bottle green, and its texture is clearly visible: fine slubs and natural streaks give it depth and a soft sheen. The sheer, detailed half and the textured, plain half balance each other perfectly. The pallu continues the first half in sheer muslin silk, carrying the same jamdani sprays and butis, and then moves into matka before finishing in handmade tassels. The saree comes with a running blouse piece.
Border Details: This is a borderless saree, and that’s what makes it feel so modern. With no border framing the edges, the eye moves freely from the sheer jamdani half to the textured matka half, and the shift between the two fabrics becomes the design. Nothing interrupts it.
Special Techniques: Two opposite yarns. Muslin silk and matka are about as different as two silks can be. Muslin silk is a very fine, smooth yarn woven in an open structure, which makes the fabric sheer and light. Matka is made from short silk fibres left after the long filament is reeled from the cocoon, and those fibres are spun by hand. Hand-spinning makes the yarn thick and uneven, which gives matka its signature slub and texture. No two matka sarees look exactly alike. Why putting them together is hard. Both halves share the same lengthwise threads on the loom, but partway through, the weaver switches the crosswise thread from fine muslin silk to thick matka. It’s like a road changing from glass to gravel. The weaver has to change how firmly each row is beaten down, or the sheer half will pucker or pull against the heavier half. Getting a clean, even change across the full width is done entirely by hand, row by row. Yarn-dyed. The bottle green is dyed into the thread before weaving begins, not added to the finished cloth. Muslin silk and matka take dye very differently, so getting both to the same deep green takes real skill before the loom is even set up. Needle jamdani. As each row of the muslin is woven, the weaver counts the warp threads and uses a fine needle to place the aqua-green thread or the rose gold zari only where that part of the motif belongs. Then the row is beaten down and the next one begins. There’s no printing, no machine and no drawn guide; the design is carried in the weaver’s memory. Each spray means switching between thread and zari inside a small space, row after row. On sheer muslin there’s nowhere to hide a mistake, because every leaf shows from both sides of the cloth. The zari. The zari is tested zari: a silk core wrapped in metallic thread, checked for quality and consistency. It isn’t real gold; “tested” refers to the verified quality of the zari. The silk core keeps it soft, so it moves easily with the light muslin.
Season: All seasons

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom. Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture."

We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
