“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”
Color: Deep Purple
Silk Type: Mulberry
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This saree comes in a deep purple with a soft, silky sheen that shifts as the fabric moves. Against it, the sheer muslin silk pallu blooms with jamdani motifs in red, rose gold. The feel is what makes it special. It’s light, it falls beautifully and it drapes easily, so it looks almost ethereal when you move. Think of it as a quiet evening sky with a few bright lanterns at one end.
It’s easy to wear almost anywhere: formal or informal occasions, a special day at work, a puja, a party, a brunch or a lunch.
The body is deep purple silk linen, and you can clearly see its texture: fine natural streaks of linen catching the light under the silk’s soft shine. Small round butis are scattered evenly across it, done in jamdani buti-inspired pita kasab embroidery in a rose gold tone. They run through the full length of the body, adding a gentle sparkle and a graceful rhythm, like small stars on a dark sky.
The pallu switches to sheer muslin silk, and the needle jamdani work comes alive here. Large, curling motifs are woven across it, some in red thread and some in rose gold zari, with scattered petal-shaped butis in both colours around them. Because the muslin is almost see-through, the motifs look like they’re floating on the fabric. Fine rose gold pinstripe bands mark the pallu end. It finishes in handmade tassels, and the saree comes with a pinstripe blouse piece.
Border Details: A sleek rose gold edging runs along the top and bottom of the saree. It’s slim and understated, and against the deep purple it reads like a fine gold line under a signature. It frames the saree cleanly without taking attention away from the body or the pallu.
Special Techniques: Yarn-dyed. The deep purple is dyed into the thread before weaving begins, not applied to the finished cloth. That matters here because different yarns (silk, linen and muslin silk) all have to come out the same purple. Each yarn takes dye differently, so matching them takes skill before the loom is even set up.
Different yarns, one saree. The body is silk linen, with linen and silk woven together. The linen gives texture, structure and breathability, and the silk adds lustre and a softer fall. The pallu is muslin silk, a very fine silk yarn woven in an open, airy structure, which is what makes it sheer.
The whole saree shares the same warp, the lengthwise threads on the loom. What changes is the weft, the crosswise thread. For the body, the weaver passes silk linen yarn across. At the pallu, the weaver switches to fine muslin silk and weaves a looser, more open structure. It’s like a road changing from textured stone to glass. The weaver has to adjust how firmly each row is beaten down, or the sheer pallu will pucker or pull away from the body. That clean change across the full width is done by hand, row by row.
Pita kasab embroidery on the body. The butis on the body aren’t woven. They’re embroidered by hand after the silk linen is woven:
Marking: the finished fabric is stretched tight on a frame, and the buti positions are lightly marked at even spacing.
Stitching: the artisan uses a needle to fill each buti with rose gold-toned thread, working the stitches closely until the round shape is complete.
Repeating: every buti across the length of the saree is done by hand, one at a time, with matching size and spacing.
The style is inspired by jamdani butis, but the method is different. Jamdani is woven into the fabric on the loom; pita kasab is stitched onto the finished fabric, like hand lettering on a page. Because the embroidery sits on the surface, keep jewellery and rough surfaces away from it so the threads don’t catch.
Needle jamdani on the pallu. The pallu motifs are woven into the cloth on the loom. As each row of the muslin silk is woven, the weaver counts the warp threads and uses a fine needle to place the red thread or the rose gold zari only where that part of the motif belongs, then beats the row down and moves on. There’s no printing, no machine and no drawn guide; the pattern is carried in the weaver’s memory. On sheer muslin there’s nowhere to hide a mistake, because every motif shows from both sides of the cloth.
The zari. The rose gold zari on the pallu is tested zari: a silk core wrapped in metallic thread, checked for quality and consistency. It isn’t real gold; “tested” refers to the verified quality of the zari. The silk core keeps it soft and flexible, so it moves with the light muslin instead of weighing it down or scratching.
With the dye matched across different yarns, the switch from silk linen to muslin silk, hand embroidery on the body and needle jamdani on the pallu, a saree like this takes several weeks of skilled work to finish.
Season: All seasons
Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom.
Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture."

Handloom sarees are entirely hand-woven on traditional looms by skilled artisans. Natural variations like minor thread ends, slight pattern variations, or subtle texture differences are authentic characteristics, not defects. These make each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
