“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Color: Purple
Silk Type: Mulberry silk
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This gharchola comes in a rich, royal purple, set against golden tested zari checks and white bandhani. It’s woven in pure gaji silk with a satin weave, so it has a glossy, silky finish and a fall that drapes close to the body and moves beautifully. It feels celebratory the moment you put it on. It’s made for weddings, auspicious occasions and celebrations, both formal and informal. If you’re choosing a saree for your daughter or daughter-in-law for a wedding, this is the one to pick. The body is a classic gharchola. Big checks of golden tested zari run across the purple silk, and the zari bands carry their own woven motifs, so even the grid lines are detailed. Inside every check is white bandhani work, and the pattern covers the full length of the saree. The saree comes with an attached blouse piece with a bandhani border and the muted gold Marodi-inspired border, so it matches the saree perfectly. The pallu is a stunning bandhani design in white on purple, and it ends in beautiful zari weaving. Framed by the muted gold Marodi-inspired border and finished with the handmade tassels, it’s the most festive part of the saree.
Border Details: A muted gold Marodi-inspired border runs along the entire length of the saree and wraps around its edges, framing the purple like a royal shawl. The saree ends in handmade tassels: balls covered in pure handloom tissue, decorated with zardozi work, pearls and crystals.
Special Techniques: Gaji silk. Gaji silk is a pure silk from Gujarat, woven in a satin weave. In a satin weave, long smooth threads float on the surface of the fabric, like brushed hair lying flat in one direction. That’s what gives gaji silk its glossy shine and its soft, body-hugging fall. The gharchola and bandhani. The purple silk is woven on the handloom with golden zari checks built into the fabric. The cloth is then hand-tied for bandhani: artisans pinch tiny points of fabric and tie each one tightly with thread before dyeing. The tied points resist the dye, and when the threads are opened, the white dots form the patterns inside each check. Every dot is tied by hand, which is why bandhani takes so long to make. The zari. The zari is tested zari: a silk core wrapped in metallic thread, checked for quality and consistency. It isn’t real gold; “tested” refers to the verified quality of the zari. The silk core keeps it soft, so it moves smoothly with the silk. The Marodi-inspired border. The double border is embroidered separately in muted gold, in the style of traditional Marodi work, with every motif kept even along the full length of the saree. It’s then attached along the edges of the saree and around the pallu. The back of the border is lined with a double layer of pure handloom tissue. That soft lining covers the reverse of the embroidery, so the border isn’t prickly or itchy and doesn’t poke the skin. It stays comfortable through hours of wear. The handmade tassels. Each tassel ball is covered in pure handloom tissue and decorated by hand with zardozi work (raised embroidery in metallic thread), pearls and crystals.
Season: All seasons

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom. Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture."

We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
