Motifs/Patterns: This is an Ettukol Kanchipuram in pure mulberry silk — a stunning onion pink laced with gold zari and lifted with a dual-tone mustard yellow. The onion pink and mustard play off each other beautifully, shifting as the light moves, and because it's mulberry silk, the whole saree carries that signature soft luster. The golden zari, the onion-pink base, the dual-tone mustard, and the geometric motifs come together to create a temple-border effect that runs through the saree and looks absolutely perfect. This is a wedding-and-reception saree through and through — refined, rich, and genuinely head-turning. It's the kind of piece you drape and instantly stand out in: sophisticated, elegant, and unmistakably special at any event.
The body is where the Ettukol weaving technique shows itself. The geometric design forms temple-like triangles — that classic rising temple-border look — repeating across the entire body. It's heavy zari weaving throughout, in every shade of onion pink and mustard, all working beautifully with the golden zari. And here's the detail that makes this saree: even with so much golden zari woven across it, the shine is beautifully muted. There's no harsh, artificial glare — just a soft, refined glow. That restraint is exactly what makes you look elegant and sophisticated in it, and what makes it a true stand-out piece rather than a flashy one.
The pallu is heavy with ingrained zari, forming a grand temple-border design at the extreme ends — exquisite, detailed, and the richest part of the saree. It rounds the whole piece off on a regal note. It also comes with a running blouse piece in onion pink, carrying the same border design woven through it, so the set is complete.
Border Details: The border carries heavy zari work running along both the top and bottom. As the border design tapers off, you can see fine filaments of mustard and onion pink feathering into the zari — a subtle, delicate finish that makes the edge look especially pretty. It frames the saree richly without ever feeling heavy-handed.
Special Techniques: This is a handloom pure mulberry silk Kanchipuram woven in the Ettukol technique, and it comes with a Silk Mark — your assurance that it's genuine natural mulberry silk. The name itself tells you how it's made. In Tamil, ettu means "eight" and kol refers to the heddles/shafts — the moving frames on the loom that lift and separate the warp threads. A plain saree is woven on just two or four of these. An Ettukol saree is woven on eight, and that's the whole secret behind the design.
Here's the simple way to picture it. On a loom, the lengthwise threads (the warp) have to be lifted in different combinations to let the crosswise thread (the weft) pass through and build a pattern. With only two or four shafts, you can make simple weaves and stripes. By using eight shafts, the weaver can lift the warp in far more complex sequences — and that's what allows those stepped, rising temple-triangle formations and the diagonal zari bands to be built directly into the cloth. Each peak of the temple pattern is formed by raising a precise set of warp threads, pass after pass, so the geometry grows row by row as the saree is woven.
This is slow, highly skilled work. The weaver has to coordinate all eight shafts in the right order for every single line of the design, keeping the mustard, onion pink, and gold zari lined up exactly so the temple triangles stay crisp and continuous across the body and pallu. The zari is carried through on the loom as the saree is made, so the temple geometry and the borders are part of the fabric's structure, not printed or added on top.
That combination — pure mulberry silk, the Silk Mark guarantee, the eight-shaft Ettukol technique, all-over temple weaving, and that deliberately muted gold — is exactly what makes a piece like this so intricate, so prized, and so elegant to wear.
Season: All seasons
Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom.
Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture.

We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
