Motifs/Patterns: This is a beautiful icy grey-and-royal-blue Pochampalli Ikkat in pure mulberry silk. The icy silver base meets a deep royal blue, with the Ikkat tie-and-dye pattern running all over the body. It's vibrant without being loud, and it reads modern and fresh. This is a perfect pick for dinner parties, brunches, and lighter functions. And because it's a Pochampalli Ikkat in fine mulberry silk, it stays lightweight and easy to carry — it works beautifully in peak summers and holds up across the seasons too.
The body carries the Ikkat pattern done in the tie-and-dye technique. The royal blue motifs sit on the icy silver base, and the pairing gives the saree a very modern feel — a fresh take on the Ikkat world. It looks terrific and pulls the eye without trying too hard.
The pallu comes in bands and brings in a richer color play — deep maroon, mustard, and white woven together. That mix sits in lovely contrast against the icy blue body and gives the saree its finishing punch. The saree also comes with a blouse piece.
Border Details: The border is a solid royal blue — no design, no pattern, just clean color. That's exactly what makes it work. Special Techniques: This is made in Pochampalli and carries a Silk Mark, which certifies it as genuine mulberry silk.
Here's what makes Ikkat special, and it's a bit mind-bending: in most weaving, you weave the cloth first and then add the pattern. In Ikkat, the pattern is dyed onto the threads before a single thread is woven. The weaver maps out the entire design in advance, then ties tiny sections of the yarn tightly with thread so those spots resist the dye. The yarn is dyed, the ties are undone, retied elsewhere, and re-dyed — color by color — until each thread carries its piece of the pattern. Only then does the weaving begin, and as the threads come together on the loom, the full design appears.
That's also why Ikkat motifs have that signature soft, slightly feathered edge — it's the natural give of lining up hand-dyed threads by hand. It's slow, precise work, planned entirely backwards from the finished picture, which is what makes a true handloom Pochampalli Ikkat so special.

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting.
