Motifs/Patterns: This is a deep purple that isn't really one colour — it's two. Depending on how the light hits it, the saree shifts between purple and royal blue, the way shot silk does. That shift comes from using two different coloured yarns in the weave rather than one, so the fabric itself carries movement even before you move in it.
Across roughly half the saree runs a honeycomb jaal — a connected hexagonal net pattern, woven in rose gold zari using the jamdani technique. Rose gold against this purple-blue is an unusual and considered pairing: warmer than silver, cooler than yellow gold, and it sits into the shifting base colour rather than fighting it.
The feel comes from Muslin Silk Linen - woven fine enough to be sheer and lightweight, with the crispness linen gives and the fall silk gives. You can see straight through the honeycomb sections, which is exactly what makes the jaal look like it's floating rather than printed on.
The body is a half-and-half.
One half is worked entirely in the honeycomb jaal — a continuous hexagonal net in rose gold zari, woven using the jamdani technique against the sheer muslin silk base. Because the ground is sheer, the net doesn't sit on top of the fabric, it appears to hang inside it — light passes straight through each hexagon.
The other half is left solid, plain and uninterrupted. That plain half is what makes the jaal half read as intricate rather than busy — it gives the eye somewhere to rest, and it's the same design logic used in half-and-half sarees generally: one worked section, one quiet section, balancing each other.
The honeycomb jaal continues into the pallu, which finishes in fine pinstripe zari bands and ends in tassels.
The saree comes with a matching pinstripe blouse piece, understated enough to let the saree carry the visual weight.
This works for party wear, for a wedding function, for puja celebrations, and for formal or informal evenings where you want something that photographs differently in every light.
Border Details: The border is a fine rose gold edging that runs along the top and bottom of the saree, unbroken along its full length.
It doesn't sit as a flat gold line — it picks up the deeper purple underneath it, so the edge itself carries the same colour-shift as the rest of the saree. It's a quiet border, and deliberately so: with a honeycomb lattice this detailed in the body, a heavy border would have competed with it.
Special Techniques: The saree is woven in muslin silk linen — a blend that takes the crisp hand and structure of linen and combines it with the fall and lustre of silk, woven at a fine, low density so the fabric turns out sheer and lightweight. That's why it drapes with body rather than clinging, and why the honeycomb jaal has something to be seen through.
he honeycomb jaal is not printed or embroidered. It is built using the traditional needle technique of jamdani — extra rose gold weft thread inserted by hand at counted points as each row is woven, then beaten down. What makes this particular jaal difficult is that it's a connected net rather than scattered individual motifs: every hexagon has to link cleanly to the next one, row after row, with no gaps and no drift, across the entire worked half of the saree.
The purple-to-blue shift in the base fabric comes from using two different coloured yarns in the weave — one in the warp, a different shade in the weft (or vice versa) — the same principle behind classic shot silk. Neither colour alone; the shimmer is the interaction between the two.
