The body features a sheer lavender half silk base adorned with an intricate jaal (all-over network) pattern created through traditional jamdani technique. Special Techniques: Creating a handloom half silk Dhakai jamdani requires exceptional mastery of traditional Bengali weaving artistry. Half silk jamdani uses cotton for the warp (lengthwise threads) and fine silk for the weft (crosswise threads), creating fabric that combines cotton's breathability with silk's lustrous drape. The lavender base is woven on traditional pit looms with extremely fine threads creating the characteristic sheer, lightweight muslin-like texture. The defining jamdani work is created through discontinuous supplementary weft technique where two master weavers work in tandem. One weaver maintains the base half silk weaving while the naksha (pattern) weaver uses bamboo sticks to manually count individual warp threads and hand-interlace colored threads - mustard, pink, purple, lavender, and minimal golden zari - to create each motif. Unlike brocade where supplementary threads run across the entire width, in jamdani these colored threads are inserted only where specific designs appear, then cut and secured, making the motifs appear to float on the transparent base.
