The silk linen weave plays with light in a way that makes the surface appear cooler and more silvered in one moment, then warmer and rosier the next. The body is kept clean and unembellished, letting the colour and the natural texture of the silk linen do the talking.
The pallu is where the saree comes alive. Dense jamdani floral motifs — large-scale blooms, stars, and botanical forms — are woven across a cherry red ground in a combination of rose gold and the lightest shade of pista green thread work, using the needle technique. The jamdani motifs on the pallu are then woven into this silk ground using the supplementary weft needle technique: the artisan uses a hand needle — rather than a throw shuttle — to individually interlace each coloured thread into the fabric, placing every petal, leaf, and star with deliberate precision as the weaving progresses row by row. The needle allows the weaver to position motifs at exact points on the sheer ground with minimal thread waste on the reverse, producing sharper, more defined forms than a shuttle would allow. It is meticulous, deeply skilled work — each motif is built thread by thread into the textile, making it an inseparable part of the fabric itself.
