The base is a light sage green — soft, cool, and refreshing — brought to life by multicolour threadwork motifs scattered across it. It's that unexpected colour combination, the muted green against bright, playful threads, that gives the saree a completely different character from your usual muslins. It's fresh and thoroughly summery, and the sage green does perfect justice to the piece. Woven in 120-count muslin, it's extremely lightweight and airy — made for warm days. It slips effortlessly into office wear, a quick lunch or brunch, or even a morning puja ceremony, where it adds a quiet, graceful note. A saree that simply works, across all these occasions and all ages.
The body is that beautiful light sage green, scattered with multicolour booties woven in the traditional Jamdani needle technique — yellow, deep maroon, and blue threadwork dotting the cloth. These little bursts of colour lift the soft green and give the whole saree its fresh, lively feel.
The pallu opens up into beautiful bands — fine pinstripe bands in deep maroon — followed by floral-vine threadwork in a play of sky blue, deep blue, maroon, and yellow. It's the richest expression of the saree's colour story and gives the drape a distinct, well-defined finish. The saree also comes with a blouse piece in a contrasting color that completes the set beautifully.
Border Details: The border carries the classic Jamdani weave, worked into floral-vine patterns in rich multicolour threadwork — navy blue, sky blue, yellow, and deep maroon all running together along the top and bottom of the saree. It finishes with the palest, lightest sky-blue edging, also running top and bottom, which gives the edges a soft, clean definition against the sage-green ground.
Special Techniques: This is a yarn-dyed handloom muslin Jamdani — the yarn is coloured first and then woven, which is why the sage green and the multicolour motifs sit deep and true in the cloth rather than resting on the surface.
What sets muslin apart from regular cotton comes down to the yarn. Everyday cotton uses thicker, coarser thread, which makes the fabric heavier and more opaque. Muslin uses far finer yarn, and at 120 count it's fine enough to weave a cloth that's wonderfully sheer, airy, and feather-light — much more delicate and luxurious than ordinary cotton. On that fine base, the Jamdani motifs are built entirely by hand on the loom using the needle technique: the motif isn't stitched on afterward but woven right into the fabric, with extra coloured threads inserted between the base threads using a fine needle-like tool, one small section at a time. It's slow, patient work, and on a weave this fine it takes real skill — which is exactly what makes a pure muslin Jamdani such a prized handloom.
