“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”
Color: Black and Copper
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: The body showcases a stunning black base. The entire body is adorned with delicate copper/rose gold zari butis (small floral motifs) scattered in an all-over pattern. These butis appear as tiny flowering dots, characteristic of traditional Jamdani work, creating a starry, luminous effect against the dark base. The supplementary weft technique makes each motif appear to float on the translucent fabric.
The pallu features a striking design progression with large-scale copper zari geometric patterns at the top, showcasing bold zigzag and angular motifs that create dramatic visual impact. This transitions into horizontal striped bands in copper zari with intricate linear work, followed by the continuation of the body's delicate all-over copper buti pattern.
Border Details: The border features horizontal copper zari stripes creating a bold, contemporary design. Multiple bands of metallic stripes in varying widths run parallel to each other, interspersed with the black base color. This striped pattern creates a rhythmic, modern aesthetic while maintaining traditional elegance. The border design complements the body's intricate buti work with its clean, geometric lines.
Special Techniques: Dhakai Jamdani is one of the finest muslin weaving traditions, recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The half-silk variety uses:
Warp and Weft Structure: Cotton warp threads with silk or half-silk weft, creating a lightweight, airy fabric with a subtle sheen.
Supplementary Weft Technique (Jamdani Method): The hallmark of Jamdani weaving where each motif is individually hand-woven using the discontinuous supplementary weft technique. Artisans use small spindles to insert zari threads only where patterns are needed, not across the entire width.
Manual Inlay Work: Each buti and design element is created by interlacing supplementary threads directly into the base fabric during weaving, making them integral to the structure rather than embroidered on top.
Double Weaver System: Two master weavers work simultaneously on a traditional handloom, coordinating perfectly to create the intricate patterns while maintaining the gossamer-light quality of the fabric.
Time-Intensive Process: A single Jamdani saree can take weeks to months depending on the density and complexity of the motifs. The butis are counted and placed according to traditional graph patterns passed down through generations.
This particular Jamdani exemplifies contemporary color innovation while honoring centuries-old weaving techniques, making it a masterpiece of Indian textile heritage.
Season: All seasons
Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom.

Handloom sarees are entirely hand-woven on traditional looms by skilled artisans. Natural variations like minor thread ends, slight pattern variations, or subtle texture differences are authentic characteristics, not defects. These make each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
