“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Color: Light Grey
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This handloom half silk Dhakai jamdani saree is woven in a soft, light grey — a cool, understated base that takes on an icy, blue-tinged character thanks to the sky blue thread work woven throughout. The grey ground is sheer and delicate, and where the sky blue border and motifs interact with it, the saree gives the impression of an ice blue — but the true base remains a clean, neutral grey, making it a beautifully deceptive colour that shifts depending on how the fabric is draped and what sits closest to the eye. The body is densely scattered with small four-petalled flower butis across the entire surface in a charming mix of egg white, sky blue, and baby pink thread work, interspersed with tiny golden zari butis that add a gentle metallic sparkle. The flowers alternate in colour — some in white, some in pink, some in blue — creating a confetti-like effect against the grey ground that feels fresh, youthful, and effortlessly pretty. The pallu builds on the body's floral language but with greater density and scale. The flower motifs in egg white, baby pink, and sky blue continue across the pallu, now interspersed with larger leaf-like jamdani forms and more generous golden zari work. Horizontal sky blue stripes run through the pallu, adding rhythm and structure between the rows of motifs. The overall composition is lively and layered — colour, thread, and zari coming together in a pallu that feels celebratory without being heavy.
Border Details: The border is worked entirely in sky blue thread as the dominant contrast colour, carrying typical Dhakai jamdani motifs — geometric leaf forms and trailing vine patterns — with egg white and baby pink thread work woven in alongside small golden zari accents. It is a thick, ornamental border that frames the saree with vivid colour against the muted grey body.
Special Techniques: This is a half silk Dhakai jamdani — woven with a silk warp and a cotton weft, giving the fabric silk's sheen and colour vibrancy on the surface while the cotton weft provides breathability and a subtle crispness in the drape. What sets Dhakai jamdani apart is the needle technique — the artisan uses a hand needle to individually interlace each supplementary weft thread into the ground fabric, placing every motif with freehand precision as the weaving progresses row by row. There is no jacquard or mechanical guide; the weaver works from memory or a hand-drawn graph beneath the warp, building each flower, each leaf, each zari buti thread by thread into the sheer ground. In a saree with this many multi-coloured motifs across the body, borders, and pallu, every single element across the entire six yards is placed by hand — a quiet testament to the patience and mastery that defines Dhakai jamdani.
Season: All seasons

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom. Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture.
