“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”

Color: Brinjal
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This handloom half silk Dhakai jamdani saree is woven in a deep brinjal — a dark, saturated aubergine that holds the light within its sheer ground, appearing almost black in shadow and revealing its rich purple depth where the fabric moves or layers. It is a colour that carries quiet drama, regal and intense, and serves as the perfect dark canvas for the multi-toned work that adorns this saree. The body is richly scattered with jamdani butis across the entire surface — golden zari floral butis interspersed with leaf-like motifs in hot pink and orange thread work. The combination of metallic shimmer and bright thread colour against the dark brinjal creates a surface that feels alive with movement and detail, festive without being overwhelming. The pallu is grand and unmistakably celebratory. Dense chevron-like geometric jamdani motifs in golden zari dominate the pallu, their angular, architectural forms covering the sheer brinjal ground with a luminous metallic expanse. Hints of hot pink and orange thread work are woven in between the zari chevrons, adding bursts of colour that punctuate the gold. A transition zone of horizontal stripes — golden zari pinstripes layered with hot pink and orange bands — bridges the body into the pallu. Taken together, this is an extraordinarily grand saree; the richly worked body, the dense ornamental borders, and the heavy, luminous pallu carry exceptional visual weight across the entire six yards — a piece designed to make a statement.
Border Details: The border is thick and densely worked in typical Dhakai jamdani style — a broad band of golden zari geometric motifs with hints of hot pink and orange thread work woven through, running along both selvedges. The selvedge is finished with a hot pink edging that adds a sharp, vivid line of contrast against the dark ground.
Special Techniques: This is a half silk Dhakai jamdani — woven with a silk warp and a cotton weft, giving the fabric silk's sheen and colour depth on the surface while the cotton weft provides a lighter, more breathable quality and a subtle crispness in the drape. What distinguishes Dhakai jamdani is the needle technique — the artisan uses a hand needle to individually interlace each supplementary weft thread into the ground fabric, placing every motif with freehand precision as the weaving progresses row by row. There is no jacquard or mechanical guide; the weaver works from memory or a hand-drawn graph placed beneath the warp, building each buti, each chevron, each geometric form thread by thread directly into the sheer ground. The needle allows for exact placement with minimal thread waste on the reverse, producing motifs that are crisp and defined on both sides. In a saree this richly worked — with multi-toned butis across the body, dense brick borders, and a heavy geometric pallu — every single motif across the entire six yards is placed by hand, making it an extraordinary testament to the patience and mastery of Dhakai jamdani weaving.
Season: All seasons

Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom. Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture.

We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
