“Handloom sarees are woven entirely by hand on traditional looms. The minor variations in weave are the artisan's signature — proof that no other saree in the world is exactly this one.”
Color: Ivory & Indigo
Loom Type: Handloom
Blouse Piece: Included
Motifs/Patterns: This is a 100% handloom pure matka silk saree in ivory and indigo — two colours, no ornament, and nothing else needed. The restraint is the point. Ivory brings light, indigo brings depth, and the line where they meet does all the work that embroidery would do on a lesser saree.
Matka silk is what makes the pairing sing. Its raw, slubbed texture gives the ivory a soft, uneven luminosity — never flat, never clinical — while the indigo picks up the same texture and turns deeper, almost inky in certain light. Run your hand across it and you feel the yarn's character immediately: dry, tactile, quietly substantial.
This is a saree for the woman who understands that sophistication is subtraction. It moves through formal occasions with complete assurance, and it is a genuinely effortless pick for work — the kind you reach for on a morning when you have no time to think, and still arrive looking like you did. Classy in the truest sense: confident enough to say very little.
The body runs half and half — ivory across one half, indigo across the other — travelling end to end, right through to the pallu. Where the two colours meet, a temple border has been woven in, running along the entire length of the saree. It's the traditional temple motif, worked directly into the join so that ivory and indigo interlock along it rather than simply meeting in a straight line. Because it runs the full length, the temple border appears in every pleat and every fall of the drape. This is exactly where cut shuttle weaving comes into play: each temple is a clean, solid edge of colour — no shading, no outline — ivory stopping and indigo beginning, precisely, thread by thread. Against matka's slubbed, textured ground, that crispness reads even more beautifully.
The pallu sits on the ivory ground and closes the saree with bands — clean horizontal stripes alternating ivory and indigo, varying in width, layered one after another. No motifs, no embroidery, no zari. And it doesn't need any. There are sarees that call for elaborate pallus and sarees that would be diminished by them; this is firmly the second kind. The bands give the drape a considered ending, echo the colour story of the body, and let the fabric itself remain the hero. Sometimes the most confident design decision is knowing when to stop.
The saree comes with a contrasting blouse piece to complete the set.
Border Details: There is no border on this saree, and that is exactly right. A saree built on a single bold colour division does not need an edge to contain it — a border would only interrupt the very line the design is built around. Matka's texture already gives the fabric its structure and its interest, so the eye needs nothing extra to hold onto. Leaving it borderless is a decision, not an omission, and it is what keeps this piece looking modern rather than merely traditional.
Special Techniques: This is a 100% handloom pure matka silk saree, and it carries the Silk Mark — your assurance of genuine silk. It is also yarn-dyed: every thread takes its colour before weaving begins, which is why both the ivory and the indigo sit deep and even, read identical on both sides of the fabric, and hold their tone for years rather than fading like surface-dyed cloth.
The technique here is cut shuttle. In ordinary weaving, one shuttle carries a single weft thread across the entire width of the fabric. In cut shuttle, the weaver uses separate shuttles for separate colours. Each shuttle travels only as far as its colour is meant to go; the thread is then cut and hand-interlocked with the neighbouring colour before the next shuttle takes over.
That interlocking is the whole difficulty. It happens by hand at every colour junction, on every single pick — thousands of times across one saree. The join must be tight enough that no gap opens between ivory and indigo, and precise enough that the temple spires hold their shape row after row. There is no machine version of this.
It is also why cut shuttle is used for exactly this kind of design. Bold blocks of contrasting colour meeting in sharp shapes — temple points, clean divisions, strong two-tone compositions — need an edge that no other technique can give: each colour fully solid right up to the join, and identical on both faces of the cloth.
All of that takes time. A cut shuttle saree spends far longer on the loom than a conventional one and demands a weaver skilled enough to keep tension, alignment and shape consistent through every interlock, across the full length of the drape. That labour is what you are paying for — and what you can see in every spire where ivory meets indigo.
Season: All seasons
Care Instructions: Only dry cleaning. Never steam iron. If ironing at home, place a cotton/mulmul cloth on top of the saree and use your iron at the lowest heat setting. Our skilled artisans use natural dyes for all our handloom collection and this will protect the intricate zari work, fabric and wont harm your precious handloom.
Store in a cotton bag or a muslin cloth to protect against moisture."

Handloom sarees are entirely hand-woven on traditional looms by skilled artisans. Natural variations like minor thread ends, slight pattern variations, or subtle texture differences are authentic characteristics, not defects. These make each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
